NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), is the entrance exam conducted by Council of Architecture. It is the national level entrance test for architecture conducted every year for admission into B.arch courses. With the score that you obtain from the entrance exam, you can apply for any NATA colleges in India. Architecture is an interesting course, which is taken up by large number of students these days. To bring about uniformity in admissions country wide, architecture entrance exam is conducted.

Eligibility to apply

The basic eligibility criterion to take up NATA is the completion of higher secondary exam with a minimum of 50% marks, with mathematics as one of the subjects. If you are eligible, then you can register yourself for the exam by filling in the registration form which will be available at designated branches. Entrance test for architecture will be conducted in the test centers, which will be intimated to you through the admit card.

Exam pattern

You should have a basic idea about exam, before you plan to take it up. For this, you can refer NATA sample papers and get a brief idea about what you may have to face in the exam. The exam consists of two papers, one is to test your drawing skills and the other is an online exam called Aesthetic sensitivity test. For preparing for NATA, you have to familiarize with the NATA drawings and the type of questions asked in that paper. The first paper usually consists of questions like pencil sketching, forming a two dimensional figure or to form a three dimensional figure.

The second paper should be taken online, which basically is the aptitude test for architecture. You can make this paper a cake-walk with all available study materials. This paper will consist of metal ability, reasoning and numerical ability sections. You can also refer previous year NATA solved papers, to get a clearer perception about the exam. Also you can practice it on your own, to manage time and improve your skills.

Admission into colleges

After completion of entrance exam, you will receive your score card. The score card can be downloaded from the official site. With this, you can apply to different NATA colleges, where you will get admitted based on the score obtained in the architecture entrance exam. The notification for different colleges will be published at different times. So, you have to keep looking for the notification of colleges, where you wish to study. The notifications may be published even before you receive your score card. So, after completing your entrance test for architecture, start applying for the admission into colleges.
